Convert Australian and New Zealand bank statement PDFs to a Xero CSV
Xero is widely used by practices in Australia and New Zealand, but its conversion of PDF statements is only offered in the US and Canada. When a client hands over PDFs (an account without a feed, months before the feed started, a catch-up job), you need a CSV that Xero’s statement import accepts.
What Carrytick handles
- Column layouts: Debit / Credit or Withdrawals / Deposits columns, or one signed amount, with a running balance.
- Balances marked CR and DR, as many Australian and New Zealand statements print them, including an overdrawn balance.
- Amounts with $, A$, NZ$, AUD or NZD, and dates such as 03 Mar 2026 or 03/03/2026.
- Row-by-row check against the printed running balance, plus opening + movements = closing.
- Xero CSV out: Date, Amount, Payee, Description, Reference, dd/mm/yyyy, one signed amount. QuickBooks Online CSV is available too.
Limits, honestly
- Text PDFs only. If a PDF has no text (a scan or photo), Carrytick says so instead of guessing.
- No bank-specific templates. Carrytick reads the table it finds, and the balance check is there to catch anything it misreads.
- Not a bank feed and not connected to Xero.
Privacy
The PDF is read in your browser. Statements are never uploaded to us. See the Privacy policy.
Try it on a real statement. Free, no sign-up, nothing uploaded. Free downloads include the first 15 rows; the Firm plan exports every row.
